Four outdoor ice rinks open in Seoul for winter fun—enjoy K-drama romance from just $1 USD

Winter is here, and it's time to enjoy outdoor ice skating again. Although the Seoul Plaza Ice Rink has been temporarily closed this year due to protests and safety concerns for visitors, the Korea Tourism Organization has curated a list of four popular outdoor ice rinks in central Seoul, offering great options for a romantic winter escape.
Yeouido Park Ice Rink
The Yeouido Park Ice Rink is located in the park’s cultural plaza area and will be open from now until February 14th of next year. Covering a total area of about 968 pyeong (approximately 3,190 square meters), the rink includes a 635-pyeong skating area, a sledding zone, a snow play area, as well as booths from sponsor companies and food stalls for visitors to relax and dine. Entry for 1.5 hours costs only 1,000 KRW (about 30 TWD), and visitors can rent skates and helmets on-site—making it a great winter destination in Seoul.

Operating Hours: 10:00 – 21:30

Transportation: About 5 minutes on foot from Exit 3 of Yeouido Station on Seoul Subway Line 5 (to the entrance of Yeouido Park)
Fees: 1,000 KRW for 1.5 hours, 2,000 KRW for a day pass, 1,000 KRW to rent equipment (skates & helmet). Season pass: 30,000 KRW (includes entry, skates & helmet rental)

Olympic Park Ice Rink
The Olympic Park Ice Rink is located in the Peace Plaza of Olympic Park in Songpa-gu, Seoul, and opens every winter. In addition to the rink, the area features nearby attractions such as the Olympic Memorial Hall, Soma Museum of Art, and Mongchon Fortress, along with various events and recreational facilities for a fun winter day out.
Opening Period: December 23, 2016 – February 5, 2017
Operating Hours: 09:00 – 20:20 (check the website for specific ice resurfacing and maintenance times)

Transportation:
1. Subway: Take Line 8 to Mongchon Fortress Station → Exit 1

MBC Sangam Ice Rink
The MBC WORLD in Sangam, located near Digital Media City Station, is Korea's first TV broadcasting-themed park centered around Hallyu (Korean Wave). In addition to the theme park, there is a large outdoor ice rink covering approximately 454 pyeong (about 1,495 square meters) in front of the MBC building. Skating here is incredibly romantic, both day and night. Even MBC employees come here to skate and unwind after work. It’s a great spot for both tourists and locals to enjoy to the fullest.

Grand Hyatt Seoul Ice Rink
The Grand Hyatt Seoul in Yongsan-gu opens its outdoor ice rink every winter and it often serves as a filming location for Korean TV commercials, dramas, and variety shows.Popular TV couple Adam Couple (Jo Kwon and Gain) from “We Got Married” also filmed here.Therefore, not only hotel guests but also many non-guests visit this romantic skating destination in Seoul.
Opening period: December 1, 2016 – (end date to be determined)

Monday to Friday: 12:00–21:00
Weekends and public holidays: 10:00–21:00
(From December 24 to January 22, 2017, weekday hours will also be adjusted to 10:00–21:00)
