Tokyo Disney Resort

Tokyo Disney Resort is located in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture, in Japan’s Kanto region. Established in 1983, it spans over 200 hectares in total area. It is composed of two theme parks—Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea—three Disney hotels, six “Official Hotels of Tokyo Disney Resort,” a Tokyo Disney Resort merchandise shop called “Bon Voyage,” an Ikspiari shopping mall, a Cirque du Soleil theater, and various related retail, dining, and entertainment facilities. It is a large-scale tourism complex integrating amusement, dining, shopping, and accommodation.

Modeled after the American Disney theme resort concept, staff members at the resort are referred to as “Cast Members” and visitors as “Guests.” To encourage longer stays, Disney evolved from operating just theme parks to developing immersive “themed resorts” that include Disney-themed parks, hotels, and shopping experiences. Today, all five major Disney theme parks worldwide have become themed resorts, attracting tens of millions of visitors each year.
