Kashiwa

Kashiwa is a commercial city in the northwestern part of Chiba Prefecture, Japan. It is currently designated as a core city and a business core city, and has the fifth-largest population in Chiba Prefecture. The city is home to numerous universities, including Rissho University, Niijima Gakuen University (Kashiwa Campus), and Nihonbashi Gakkan University.

Kashiwa has a relatively rich cultural atmosphere with many cultural facilities, such as the Kashiwa Civic Gallery, Kashiwa Civic Cultural Hall, Kashiwa Central Community Center, and the Fresh Chiba Prefectural Plaza. If parks are must-visit spots in a city, then you definitely shouldn’t miss the parks in Kashiwa. Among them, the Chiba Prefectural Kashiwanoha Park, Kashiwa Hometown Park, Tegaoka Hill Park, and Masuo Castle Ruins Comprehensive Park are the most popular. The city doesn’t have too many historical sites, but Hongryu-san Donghai Temple—also known as Fuse Benten—is ranked as one of the Three Great Bentens of the Kanto region, along with Kan’eiji’s Bentendo and Enoshima Shrine. The former Yoshida Family Residence is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property.
