During the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong era, when Yilan was still a wild and undeveloped region, in the third year of the Jiaqing reign, Wu Sha led a group of Han militiamen from Zhangzhou, Quanzhou, and Guangdong to settle in Lanyang via Wushi Port. To commemorate Wu Sha’s contributions, his former residence was restored in Lanyang. Some of his descendants still live there today.
