The annual travel event highlight, the "Yilan Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival," runs from July 5 to August 24. The main venue is the Dongshan River Water Park in Yilan. The event promises a rich and exciting program, featuring children’s folk music and dance troupes from five continents around the world, as well as distinctive performance groups from Taiwan, all gathering on this global stage of the Children's Festival to celebrate through dance. Street performers will also roam the venue during performance hours, bringing endless surprises. There is a large number of both international and domestic performance groups, with foreign acts coming from over 20 countries including Japan, Mexico, Russia, Indonesia, South Korea, and Bulgaria. Taiwanese groups include FOCA – Taiwan Circus, Lanyang Drama Troupe, Nine Songs Children’s Theater, Lanyang Wind Orchestra, and the Huilan Beibu Elementary School Dance Team, among others. With a wide range of diverse and colorful performances, the festival offers something for everyone.

The event also includes the “Global Handicrafts and Cultural Creativity Market,” showcasing lifestyle products and artworks handpicked by international teams that reflect local characteristics. These treasures will come to the Children's Festival along with their creators, offering visitors endless surprises. This year, the market further integrates cultural creativity and the joy of handmade crafts by inviting master artisans and creators from both home and abroad to showcase their skills. Visitors can not only enjoy hands-on experiences at the market but also admire an exhibition filled with exotic handicraft artistry, injecting continuous creative energy into the festival and allowing them to experience the beauty of a life filled with creativity. Additionally, events such as “Nature with Artistic Insight Workshop” and “Boundless Drifting Voyage” will foster new energy in environmentalism, cultural creativity, and art.
Holders of the “High-Speed Rail Dongshan River Joint Ticket” can purchase Children's Festival tickets on-site using their national highway bus ticket stubs. Individual tickets will enjoy a group discount rate of NT$50 off per ticket. Ticket stubs from the Children's Festival also grant shopping discounts at the Yilan Crescent Square Department Store. Visitors to Yilan’s tourist factories, such as the Jade Rabbit Pencil Factory and Tiger Brand Rice Noodle Cultural Industry Museum, can also enjoy admission and shopping discounts with their Children's Festival ticket stubs. Partner homestays participating in this year’s Children's Festival alliance will also offer accommodation discounts—be sure to check or confirm details when selecting your lodging. It is recommended to use public transportation to get there, as both Kavalan Bus and Capital Bus operate direct routes from Taipei City Hall Bus Station to Dongshan River Park.
