Qilan Forest Recreation Area

Qilan Forest Amusement Park is located in Tuchang Village, Datong Township, Yilan County, Taiwan, approximately 38 kilometers from both Yilan City and Luodong City. It sits at the gateway to Taipingshan and Lishan. Facing the Taipingshan mountain range and situated at the confluence of the Lanyang River, Duowang River, and Tiangu'er River, the area boasts wide river valleys and naturally stunning scenery, making it one of Yilan County’s most popular attractions.

Legend has it that long ago, the site where Qilan Forest Amusement Park now stands was home to a young Atayal couple deeply in love. One day, the young man went hunting but was accidentally shot and killed by an arrow from a fellow hunter. Upon hearing the news, the young woman rushed to his side, embraced his lifeless body, and wept bitterly—so heartbroken that she eventually fainted and died on the spot. Miraculously, where the two died, a large tree grew, always adorned with delicate orchids. From then on, people began to call the place “Qilan” (which means “resting orchids”), and thus Qilan Forest Amusement Park came to be.

Qilan Forest Amusement Park features unique forest bathing trails, pebble health paths, cherry-apricot walking trails, and peach-plum trails. Along the way, you’ll find vibrant flowers, swaying willows, birdsong, floral scents, and the sounds of cicadas and insects—all contributing to a harmonious natural beauty.
