Stone Umbrella

　 　 Introduction: The Stone Umbrella is a unique rock formation along the Huatung Coastal Highway. It is a reef that extends from the shore into the sea, named for its resemblance to an umbrella. When large waves surge in and crash against the reef, multiple cascading torrents form between the crevices, creating a spectacular sight worth seeing. Transportation: Take the Dingdong Bus coastal line from in front of Taitung Railway Station headed for Jingpu and get off at Stone Umbrella—service is infrequent. Alternatively, take a bus operated by Taiwan Bus or Dingdong Bus to Chenggong Town, then transfer to a Dingdong Bus heading for Changbin and get off at Stone Umbrella. The Stone Umbrella scenic area is located near Sanxiantai and can be conveniently visited along the way.
