To allow more travelers to experience the beauty of the East Coast, Taitung County Government has launched the “Taiwan Fun Card – Taitung Sports & Tourism Edition” starting today. It includes a variety of travel deals on food, accommodation, activities, shopping, and transportation in Taitung. Highlights include a “Buy One Get One Free” round-trip ticket to Green Island, making it possible for two people to explore Green Island for just over a thousand NT. Reservations are now open to the public.

Taitung County Magistrate Huang Jian-ting said that Taitung was named one of the “Top 10 Best Places to Visit in Asia in 2016” by the global travel guide Lonely Planet. Taitung boasts not only beautiful mountain and sea scenery, but also warm and friendly locals, as well as a diverse food scene. Although Typhoon Nepartak once severely impacted Taitung, most attractions, transportation, and accommodations have now largely recovered and are safe for travel. He hopes that through the various discounts offered with the Taitung Fun Card, more visitors will come to Taitung and support the region’s recovery from the natural disaster.

Liu Xilin, Deputy Director of the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, also noted that the Taitung Fun Card not only enables travelers to explore Taitung with ease, but also promotes the “3S” concept: Save time, Save money, and most importantly, Save memories — creating lasting travel experiences through Taitung’s delicious food and stunning landscapes.

The Taitung Fun Card offers multiple great deals, including a “Green Island Day Pass – Free 3-Day Ticket” for just 999 NT when you buy one get one free. This pass covers rides on local city buses, round-trip ferry tickets to Green Island, and services on the Dingdong Mountain and Sea lines. In addition, the county government has partnered with Uni Air and Mandarin Airlines to offer both two-day-one-night and three-day-two-night independent travel and group tour packages. Travelers can also purchase entrance tickets to various attractions and join the Taitung Bicycle Light Travel program. On average, prices are about 30–50% cheaper than regular rates.

Lion Travel stated that the Taitung Fun Card’s discounts are mainly divided into Day Passes and package tours. Each card number can only purchase one type of Day Pass, but there are no such limits on tour packages.
