Little Yehliu

Located north of Fugang Fishing Port at kilometer 162 on Provincial Highway 11, Little Yehliu is the southernmost scenic spot along Taiwan’s eastern coast. It earned its name due to its rich and diverse erosional landforms, which rival those of Yehliu in the north.

Little Yehliu’s geology is mainly composed of sandstone, a rock type not considered native to the Philippine Plate and believed to be an allochthonous block. A walking path from the visitor center to the shore is lined with vibrant coastal plants such as beach naupaka, screw pine, hibiscus tiliaceus, and date palms. The shoreline itself is a natural stone sculpture park dotted with peculiar rock formations.

Little Yehliu Visitor Center

Upon entering Little Yehliu Scenic Area, the first thing visitors see is a visitor center with a sloped roof design. Inside the center, the geological exhibition hall uses vivid geological models and rock specimens to introduce the area’s unique landforms and the formation and evolution of the Coastal Mountains.

Before visiting Little Yehliu, guests can explore the Geological Landscape Exhibition Room for detailed information, then walk out to the rocky shore to closely observe various uniquely shaped rocks such as tofu rocks, honeycomb rocks, and mushroom rocks. On clear days, looking east from Little Yehliu, you can clearly see Green Island 32 kilometers away, as well as ferries departing from Fugang Fishing Port to Green Island and Orchid Island.
