Huadong Valley Scenic Area

Established in 1997, the Huadong Valley Scenic Area is one of Taiwan’s ten most famous scenic spots. It serves as a “green corridor” connecting Hualien and Taitung, boasting a uniquely beautiful natural environment and simple, friendly local culture. Each year, it attracts large numbers of domestic and international tourists for sightseeing and vacation.

The Huadong Valley Scenic Area features a wide variety of tourist attractions, such as Liyu Lake and Chinan Forest Recreation Area in Hualien, Lichuan Fish Farm, Xinguang Zhongfeng Farm, Lintianshan Cultural and Industrial Park, Hualien Guangfu Sugar Refinery, Liushijhi Mountain, Ruisui Ranch, Chike Mountain, as well as Dapo Pond, Chihshang, Red Leaf Hot Springs, Chulu Ranch, and Taitung Native Plant Garden in Taitung County—all of which are excellent destinations for exploring Huadong.

The Huadong Valley Scenic Area is a great place to visit all year round, especially during the Huadong Valley International Paragliding Competition held in Luye Township in August and the Golden Needle Flower Season at Jinxue Mountain in Yuli and Liushijhi Mountain in Fuli in September, which have gained global attention and draw a continuous stream of domestic and international tourists.
