Shuangliu Forest Recreation Area

Shuangliu Forest Recreation Area is located in Danlu Village, Shizi Township, Pingtung County, Taiwan, covering a total area of 1,600 hectares. It gets its name from being situated at the confluence of the two main headstreams of the Fenggang River. The forest features beautiful tree cover, with dense and serene stands of trees such as gliricidia, Chinese pistache, acacia, Taiwan beech, camphor, and mahogany. The area is also abundant with streams and waterfalls—key recreational resources—and is home to various wildlife species, making it an ideal destination for hiking, walking, and enjoying a forest bath.

The main highlight of Shuangliu Forest Recreation Area is the 4-kilometer-long Sichulin Stream along the Shuangliu River. The area is divided into an office zone, a sediment dam zone, a white wood forest zone, and a waterfall zone. Along the trail, the landscape of tropical rainforest plants is ever-present, with buttress roots, giant banyans, and peculiar trees commonly seen, creating a serene and mysterious atmosphere. The Shuangliu Waterfall is located behind the white wood forest. With a height of about 25 meters, the waterfall fans out and cascades like gauze, enveloped in a fine mist, offering a magnificent sight. In addition, beneath the Shuangliu Bridge near Shuangliu Village, there is another Shuangliu Waterfall. This one is only 10 meters high but has a powerful flow and makes a loud roar, also making it a great spot for waterfall viewing.
