Pingtung Calls for Creative Short Films with Cash Prizes   Submission Deadline: November 15

Pingtung County Government is calling on people nationwide to use videos to document Pingtung, organizing the “Capture Pingtung” short film competition. As long as you shoot creative short films that showcase the unique characteristics of Pingtung and upload them to YouTube and the event platform with the keyword “Capture Pingtung,” you can not only help the world discover Pingtung’s diverse facets and touching stories through video, but also have a chance to win a popular smartphone and the grand annual prize of NT$100,000. The first season of the event is now open for submissions until November 15.

Pingtung County Magistrate Pan Meng-an stated that when it comes to Pingtung, many people only think of the summer sun and the southern island of Kenting, but few notice the beauty of Pingtung’s diverse cultural perspectives and ethnic groups, as well as its warm local charm. Pingtung is not only suitable for tourism, but also presents a different face all year round—it’s a great place for filming.

The “Capture Pingtung Short Film Competition” is divided into four seasons, with each season featuring a different theme centered around “food, accommodation, fun, and emotion.” It calls on video enthusiasts of all ages to unleash their creativity and capture the local essence of Pingtung. The first 20 teams to sign up early in each season and meet the qualifications will receive a participation award of NT$1,000. The best film selected by the judges each season will win an iPhone. Additionally, the top three winners of each season will also be eligible to compete for the annual grand prize of NT$100,000.

The “Capture Pingtung Short Film Competition” is now accepting submissions for the first season. This season’s theme is “food,” showcasing delicious local cuisine from Pingtung in any filming style.
