In light of the Formosa Fun Coast dust explosion incident, theTaipei City Government’s Department of Information and Tourism recently announced the maximum capacity limits for 73 tourist attractions, including the National Father Memorial Hall, National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, and Miramar Entertainment Park,and has re-evaluated the management of large-scale events while establishing standard operating procedures to ensure the safety and smooth running of such events..

Taking major tourist attractions as examples, the maximum capacity at Taipei 101’s observation deck is 1,325 people, the Taipei Zoo can accommodate up to 60,000 people, and the National Palace Museum’s main building can host 10,730 people, among others. The Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism stated that the capacity data for each attraction is calculated by the operators themselves based on indoor event space, municipal regulations, and other factors. This allows event organizers to better manage crowd levels and prevent accidents.

The Taipei City Department of Information and Tourism also pointed out that the Taipei City Government has re-evaluated the management of large-scale events and has developed standard operating procedures multiple times as a reference for government planning of such events. Taking the safety management planning for the Taipei City New Year’s Eve celebration as an example, measures include setting up first aid stations, service desks, fire extinguishers, ambulances, fire trucks, and emergency response routes to ensure the safety and smooth running of the event.
