Pingtung’s “Pbike” to Launch on the 4th – Only I-Pass Accepted, Riders Under 14 Prohibited

Pingtung Pbike will be launched at 12:00 noon on the 4th, with 20 rental stations and 450 bicycles available in the area centered around Pingtung Railway Station. Registration for membership has already opened online, and users must be at least 14 years old to rent a bike.

Operated by Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation, the first phase of Pingtung Pbike includes 20 rental stations concentrated in downtown Pingtung. According to the rental regulations published on the Pbike official website, currently only I-Pass and credit cards are accepted for rentals; Taipei’s YouBike card is not yet usable.

In addition, although managed by Kaohsiung MRT, the systems and data of the two have not been merged or interconnected. Therefore, users who have already registered for Kaohsiung CityBike still need toPbike official websiteto register again before they can rent a Pbike. Public bicycles in Pingtung and Kaohsiung also cannot be borrowed or returned interchangeably.

In terms of pricing, Pbike offers the first 30 minutes free, then NT$10 for every subsequent 30 minutes. For credit card users, the first 30 minutes are free, then NT$20 for every 30 minutes after that. Users should note that there is an age restriction for using Pbike: riders must be at least 14 years old, those under 14 are prohibited from renting and riding, and users aged between 14 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult to ensure the safety of both riders and other road users.
