Chu Wei-ming Art Museum

The Chu Wei-ming Art Museum is located at No. 2 Xishihu, Jinshan Township, Taipei County. It is a personal art museum built by local sculptor Chu Wei-ming, covering an area of 1.1 hectares, and is divided into indoor and outdoor sections. The indoor part mainly features wood carvings, clay sculptures, as well as paintings in oil, ink, and pastel, comprehensively showcasing over a thousand works created by Chu Wei-ming across various periods. The collection also includes works by Chu’s mentor, Li Jinchuan, and master sculptor Yang Yingfeng. Li Jinchuan, who specialized in temple carving, was Chu’s mentor in traditional sculpture, while Yang Yingfeng had a profound influence on Chu’s creative vision. The outdoor section primarily displays Chu Wei-ming’s most iconic “Tai Chi” series and the “Humanity” series, which depict the diversity of human life. The solid and powerful “Tai Chi” stone sculptures vividly capture postures from Tai Chi movements such as Cloud Hands, Horse Stance, and Single Whip, combining strength with a sense of fluidity. Meanwhile, the “Humanity” series, primarily made of stainless steel, features a variety of expressive and uniquely posed human figures scattered across benches and among rocks, adding a playful touch.
