Lehua Night Market

Lehua Night Market is located in Yonghe District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, and is the most renowned night market in the Yonghe area. The main part of the night market is situated along Yongping Road, starting from the intersection with Yonghe Road and ending at Zhongshan Road; it also includes a section of Baofu Road, Phase 1, from the Yonghe Road intersection to the Yongping Road intersection.

Lehua Night Market emerged in the 1970s, and its entrance was originally next to a “Lehua Theater” (now rebuilt as a Cashbox KTV), from which the night market got its name. Initially, the night market was confined to Yongping Road, from the Yonghe Road intersection to the Baofu Road, Phase 1, intersection, then turning onto the beginning of Baofu Road, Phase 1, roughly forming an L-shape. In the 1980s, it gradually extended westward along Yongping Road to the entrance of Baoping Road Lane 18. By the end of 1998, after the opening of Taipei Metro’s Orange Line (Zhonghe Line), the night market grew even more rapidly due to its proximity to Dingxi Station, expanding all the way to Zhongshan Road and reaching its current scale.

During the day, Lehua Night Market is just a small vegetable market, but come dusk, numerous vendors and crowds flood in. The wide array of goods on offer, along with the enticing aromas of various street foods wafting through the streets, attract countless visitors.
