Neidong Forest Recreation Area

Neidong Forest Recreation Area is located in Xinxian Village, Wulai District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, covering an area of approximately 1,191 hectares with an elevation ranging from about 230 to 800 meters. It represents the low-altitude stream and canyon ecological environment of northern Taiwan. Legend has it that during the transition between spring and summer, the area was filled with the croaking of frogs, which is why it was formerly known as Wawagu, derived from the sound “wa-wa.” The area boasts beautiful scenery, well-preserved natural ecology, and abundant flora and fauna.

Neidong Forest Recreation Area features a variety of landscapes including forests, waterfalls, pools, and streams, all exuding a wild natural charm. Among these, the Wawagu Waterfall (also known as Xinxian Waterfall) is particularly popular with visitors. Due to its unique terrain, the waterfall forms a three-tiered and ever-changing spectacle, producing a powerful roar that can be heard from afar. However, due to the deep and cold water, swimming is strictly prohibited.

Not only does it offer stunning scenery, but Neidong Forest Recreation Area also provides well-developed facilities for sightseeing and leisure. Based on the natural environment, the area is equipped with convenient amenities such as rest pavilions, waterfall-viewing bridges, walking trails, and picnic areas.
