Sanxia Xingtian Temple

Xingtian Temple, also known as the Temple of Lord Guan or Enzhugong Temple, is a Taiwanese folk religion temple primarily dedicated to Guan Yu. It is one of the most visited temples in northern Taiwan. The oldest branch of Xingtian Temple is located in Beitou District, Taipei City, while Sanxia Xingtian Temple comes next, with its main temple situated in Zhongshan District, Taipei. Sanxia Xingtian Temple is located in New Taipei City’s Sanxia District. It was first built on December 6, 1965, as a traditional Taiwanese temple constructed with reinforced concrete, and is also one of the city’s most famous scenic spots.

Like Beitou, Sanxia Xingtian Temple features hiking trails for worshippers to enjoy walks. The overall architectural style of the temple is identical to that of the main temple in Taipei, with only minor differences in carvings. Notably, the plaque above the entrance uses a different name for the temple compared to the main temple and the Beitou branch—it is called Xingxiu Temple (Temple of Cultivation and Practice). The main deities enshrined inside include Guan Yu’s sworn brothers and relatives, his subordinates Zhou Cang and Guan Ping, as well as the temple’s founder, Master Xuan Kong. The temple is open from 4:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
