Fugui Cape Lighthouse

Originally called "Fugi Cape Lighthouse," it was renamed to its current name in 1927. Located at Fugui Cape in Shimen District, New Taipei City, it is the northernmost lighthouse in Taiwan. Around 1991 (the 80th year of the Republic of China), Chunghwa Post issued a series of lighthouse stamps, one of which featured Fugui Cape Lighthouse.

Construction of Fugui Cape Lighthouse began in 1896 and was completed in 1897. The original structure was an octagonal iron tower, 30 meters tall, painted with black-and-white parallel stripes. During World War II, it was bombed, resulting in damage to the lighting equipment and severe rusting of the tower. In 1954, a temporary steel-frame tower was used as a replacement, and in 1962, it was rebuilt as an octagonal concrete tower, restored with its original stripe design. The current Fugui Cape Lighthouse stands 14.3 meters tall with a light elevation of 31.4 meters, featuring a third-order rotating Fresnel lens. The scenery around the lighthouse is stunning, with the vast sea complementing the blue sky, while the lighthouse adds vibrancy and character to the area.
