Located in Wanli Township, Taipei County, adjacent to the Yehliu Scenic Area, Yehliu Ocean World sits on a peninsula jutting out into the sea about 15 kilometers northwest of Keelung, surrounded by a uniquely splendid natural seascape. This year-round marine park is the only dolphin performance venue in the country, with spacious seating that can accommodate 3,000 people, attracting countless visitors every holiday. In addition to the adorable dolphins, Yehliu Ocean World also features beluga whale and sea lion performances, as well as regularly updated international acts such as high-diving, synchronized swimming, and acrobatic shows — all thrilling and worth watching, with each performance lasting about 60 minutes.

The coastal landscape of Yehliu Scenic Area is rich and diverse: from table mountains and candle-shaped rock formations to Queen’s Head, erosional platforms, sea caves, and cliff indentations — dozens of unique landforms that showcase the awe-inspiring craftsmanship of nature.

Off the coast of Yehliu lies a bed of submerged reefs teeming with various marine creatures. Through the glass-bottomed decks of cruise boats, passengers can observe an underwater scene featuring artificial fish reefs, schools of fish, coral, anemones, squid, shrimp, crabs, and sea urchins — all vibrant and breathtaking. You can enjoy the wondrous underwater scenery and fascinating marine ecology without even getting wet.

Yehliu Ocean World features an approximately 100-meter-long underwater tunnel aquarium that displays nearly 200 species of rare fish and marine organisms, which are regularly updated. It serves as an excellent extracurricular resource for family fun. The aquarium was reconstructed underground at a cost of tens of millions of dollars, highlighting the unique behaviors and lesser-known species of marine life. The marine life specimen exhibition area showcases a variety of precious marine mammals and fish, including real specimens and skeletons, offering strong educational value. The Dolphin Memorial Hall displays dolphin specimens, where you can see massive dolphin models as well as the rare Japanese deep-sea fish known as the “sea dragon,” providing visitors with an immersive undersea experience.

The star attraction of the ocean park — the sea lion acrobatic show — features highly trained sea lions following their trainers’ cues to perform nimble and entertaining routines. Despite their round and plump appearance, these sea lions display remarkable agility in the water, rivaling other marine animals. It’s one of the most popular shows at Yehliu Ocean World, with every show selling out. The dolphin performance is beloved by both adults and children. Dolphins come ashore to greet the audience and perform various challenging maneuvers. Gentle in nature and emotionally expressive, these intelligent and personable marine creatures leap from the water in perfect parabolic arcs, delivering what can only be described as aquatic ballet — a dazzling spectacle that captivates all who watch.
