Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (formerly known as Kadoorie Farm) is a farm and botanical garden in Hong Kong, located on the northern slopes and foothills of Tai Mo Shan in Tai Po District, New Territories, near Pak Ngau Shek in Lam Tsuen along the Lam Kam Road. It covers an area of 148 hectares, spanning both Tai Po District and Yuen Long District.

If you are interested in farming or enjoy a rural lifestyle, it is recommended that you visit this place with your family to enjoy the pleasures of farming and family time. Nestled among forests on the northern slopes and foothills of Tai Mo Shan, Kadoorie Farm features clear streams in the valleys, as well as numerous vegetable gardens and terraced fields, making it a large-scale farm that combines sightseeing with nature education. Established in 1956 by the Kadoorie brothers, the farm was initially aimed at assisting impoverished farmers in Hong Kong and now focuses on nature conservation efforts.

Kadoorie Farm is mainly divided into two areas: the upper hill section and the lower hill section. Those who enjoy a rural lifestyle can explore the upper hill area, which has nine ecological trails allowing you to walk through fields and woodlands, such as the Arboretum Trail, Butterfly Trail, and Orchard Trail. If you are fond of animals or insects, you shouldn’t miss the lower hill area, where there are several farmsteads and animal exhibits where you can see butterflies, wild boars, black-eared kites, parrots, and owls.

If you have enough time and stamina, you can try hiking from the farm’s reception office to the summit of Kwun Yam Shan, which stands 552 meters above sea level. On a clear day, you can enjoy panoramic views of the New Territories from here, and even catch glimpses of Shenzhen and Shekou in the distance.

How to get there: 1. Take KMB buses 64K, 64P, or 65K. 2. Take the East Rail Line to Tai Po Market Station or Tai Wo Station, then transfer to KMB bus 64K (heading towards Yuen Long West) and get off right in front of the entrance to Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden. 3. Take the West Rail Line to Kam Sheung Road Station, then transfer to KMB bus 64K (heading towards Tai Po Market Station) and get off across the street from the main entrance of Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden.
