West Sea Pearl Scenic Area is a national water conservancy scenic area.

Bazhou West Sea Pearl Scenic Area —— The Bosten Lake Water Diversion Station and 53 other scenic spots across the country were reviewed and approved by the National Water Conservancy Scenic Area Evaluation Committee under the Ministry of Water Resources and designated as the fourth batch of “National Water Conservancy Scenic Areas,” which were then officially announced. It is reported that among the 54 scenic areas announced this time, five scenic areas from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps were selected.

The Water Diversion Station Scenic Area is located in the southern part of Bosten Lake, 20 kilometers from the county seat and 60 kilometers from Korla City. It is managed and operated by the Bazhou West Sea Water Diversion Tourism Service Center, covering a total area of 5,393.66 mu (approximately 359.6 hectares), with a cumulative investment of 12 million yuan. The Water Diversion Station is the largest electric water diversion station in Xinjiang and even the entire northwest region. It features comprehensive service buildings covering 2,100 square meters, two villas, grapevine corridors, observation pavilions, parking lots, beaches, and two environmentally friendly toilets, among other tourism service facilities. It is equipped with three speedboats and one 50-seat cruise ship, offering recreational activities such as lake cruising, beach bathing, and damside lake viewing. In 2003, it was rated as a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area by the Ministry of Water Resources. Bailuzhou (Egret Island) is located on the southern shore of Bosten Lake, 40 kilometers from the county seat and 60 kilometers from Korla City. It has a planned area of 30 square kilometers and a touring area of 50 square kilometers. It is a scenic tourism development project launched in 1998 in response to the autonomous region’s strategy to develop tourism resources at the “Two Lakes.” The project received significant attention from Secretary [name omitted], who visited the site twice to inspect its development. Bailuzhou is known for being “vast,” “unique,” and “wild.” It borders the beautiful Bosten Lake to the south and the desert to the north, creating a striking contrast between the harsh, arid desert environment on one side and the comfortable, romantic ambiance of sandy beaches and lakes on the other. At present, Bailuzhou has developed five zones: Golden Bay, Bailuzhou Head, Egret Garden, Hailong Holiday Village, and Shuangwan Jingxiu (Twin Bays Competing in Beauty).
