Bosten Lake, located in Bohu County, Xinjiang, is China's largest inland freshwater lake, covering an area of 1,600 square kilometers. Near its southern shore, there are sand dunes of varying heights, as well as shifting and semi-fixed sand hills, along with pyramid-shaped dune chains and undulating sand mounds. Every winter, Bosten Lake freezes over for miles, and a thin layer of snow covers the nearby sand dunes, creating a unique and picturesque contrast between the sands and the white snow.
