The site of the former Xinjiang Provincial Bank is a cultural heritage site protected by Xinjiang.
The site of the former Xinjiang Provincial Bank, also known as Urumqi Big Bank, was built between 1943 and 1945 in the Slavic architectural style. On October 1, 1950, the Xinjiang Branch of the People’s Bank of China moved here. For over seventy years, the “Big Bank” has witnessed the development and evolution of modern and contemporary finance in Xinjiang, and has been forever enshrined in the revolutionary history of Xinjiang for the glorious military parade held here on December 18, 1949, attended by figures such as Peng Dehuai, Zhang Zhizhong, Wang Zhen, and Burhan.
