Starbucks is set to unveil another new attraction: a shipping container market is being planned on the open space outside Huilan Bay Happy Farm in Hualien. This area often hosts container markets, and the most notable recent addition is the container-based Starbucks. On-site, visitors can see several pure white containers stacked and arranged in an intersecting pattern, with one of them featuring the Starbucks logo. The construction is still underway.

In fact, there is already a container-based Starbucks in Seattle, USA. This one-of-a-kind global concept store repurposes four large containers that previously transported Starbucks coffee beans, tea leaves, and other ingredients. Thanks to the designers’ ingenuity, not only does the building meet low-carbon footprint design standards, but it also boasts a uniquely distinctive new look.

In addition to being built to green building standards, Seattle’s container Starbucks is also designed as an eco-friendly drive-thru coffee shop. But now, you don’t have to fly to the U.S. to see one — Hualien’s under-construction container Starbucks will not only use even larger containers but will also feature a driveway-style layout.
