Xinjiang Kunlun Hotel
The Xinjiang Kunlun Hotel is a cultural heritage site protected by Urumqi.
The Xinjiang Kunlun Hotel was built in 1959. With its eight floors, it was the tallest building in Urumqi at the time and a landmark of the capital city, earning it the affectionate nickname "Ba Lou" (Eight Floors). To this day, "Ba Lou" remains a widely recognized colloquial name for the Xinjiang Kunlun Hotel. In his song "The First Snow of 2002," Daolang sings: "The No. 2 bus that stops at Ba Lou" refers to the Kunlun Hotel.
