Established in 1964, the Urumqi Grape Garden covers a total area of 357 mu, with 257 mu dedicated to grape cultivation. The number of grape varieties has expanded from the original 24 to over 100 today. Over the years, the grapes grown here have been widely praised for their excellent taste, high sugar content, and long shelf life. They are sold to cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, as well as Hong Kong and Macau.

Since its establishment, the Grape Garden has not only served government reception functions but is now fully open to the public. The range of services has expanded beyond just sampling grapes and melons.

It has developed into a comprehensive system integrating dining, entertainment, leisure, and vacation. New features on the site include yurts with exotic flair, traditional bamboo houses of the Dai people from Yunnan, thatched cottages, Uyghur-style halls, Kazakh yurts, Tianshan wooden cabins, a variety garden with grape pergolas, a leisure fishing area, a cultural corridor, sightseeing zones, recreational areas, and an auditorium that can host large meetings for hundreds of people. The site also offers a fully equipped restaurant and dance hall, making it an ideal place for social groups, families, and individuals seeking leisure and vacation. The Grape Garden has now become one of the key venues connecting Urumqi’s political, economic, and cultural services.
