Taiwan’s Tainan to Launch Double-Decker Sightseeing Buses; Four Transit Stations Win Architecture Awards

In addition, Tainan City Government’s Department of Transportation has been promoting a bus rapid transit policy, completing the renovation and construction of nine transit stations. Besides serving as transportation hubs, these stations also incorporate architectural designs that reflect local cultural characteristics. Among them, four transit station facilities—Guangmiao, Shanhua, Bao’an, and Xinsi Station Front Transit Facilities—were jointly awarded the 2017 National Excellence in Construction Award. Visitors to Tainan may want to stop by these transit stations to admire their architectural styles.

The double-decker sightseeing buses are expected to initially deploy three vehicles, with ticket prices ranging between 200 and 300 NTD. In addition to city areas, historical sites, and popular attractions, night markets and charming streets and alleys will also be key stops on the route. Plans for ticket packages or free-hop-on-hop-off options are also under consideration.
