Ningxia Geological Survey Equipment Museum

The Ningxia Geological Survey Equipment Museum is a science education base.

To widely promote geological science knowledge, document and pass on the evolutionary history of geological survey equipment that carries the development of the geological industry, and to facilitate the sound and rapid advancement of the geological sector, the Ningxia Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration and Development constructed the “Ningxia Geological Survey Equipment Museum” in November 2009. The museum is situated 500 meters south of the XinXiao Line in Xixia District, Yinchuan City, covering a total base area of 42,061 square meters. It includes one indoor exhibition hall with a floor space of 410 square meters, displaying over 560 collection items; the outdoor exhibition area showcases seven (sets) of large drilling rigs and other physical exhibits. The museum’s collection comprises eleven categories of geological survey equipment, including geological exploration, geophysical prospecting, surveying and mapping, and experimental testing instruments and devices.

The Ningxia Geological Survey Museum remains open to the public free of charge year-round, and has hosted over 5,000 visitors to date, including geological workers from other provincial bureaus across China, primary and secondary school students, and tour groups. In 2010, the museum was designated as a “Regional Science Education Base”; in June 2011, it was recognized as a “Science Education Base for Land and Resources.”
