Where to go during school holidays and Tomb Sweeping Day? Kaohsiung City has launched 6 spring travel experiences that “cover mountains, sea, rivers and harbors.” Visitors can take boat rides through Love River to enjoy the city’s scenic views and cruise around the Port of Kaohsiung. They can also head to Namasia District, one of Taiwan’s top 10 firefly-watching spots, to admire fireflies dancing under a starry sky. The city government said that those who upload their Kaohsiung travel photos tothe “Kaohsiung Traveler” websitecan also enter a lucky draw.

Romantic Love River – Cruise and gondola rides to enjoy spring scenery

The Tourism Bureau points out that a visit to Kaohsiung is not complete without a trip on Love River. It recommends that the public take yachts through downtown Kaohsiung to enjoy an up-close journey on Love River where “the wind blows and the river flows.”

Charming Harbor – Yacht harbor cruise at Hongmao Port

Hop on a luxury yacht to visit the British Consulate Cultural Park, Pier-2 Art Center, and Hongmao Port Cultural Park, with guided commentary on the history and development of the Port of Kaohsiung.

Bicycle Tour

The Green Capital Bike Tour and the Highlight Kaohsiung Two-Day Tour connect internationally awarded attractions, including the Cuihua Road Bicycle Lane Bridge, Zhongdu Wetland, the vast and beautiful Moon World, the Zhongzheng Star Bicycle Lane Bridge, Pier-2 Art Center, Hamasen Railway Cultural Park, and the Qijin Coastline Protection Project.

Camping Fun in Namasia

Namasia District is a famous firefly-watching spot in southern Taiwan. From March to May every year, “firefly lights” emerge, complementing the serene mountain night sky for a delightful scene. The Tourism Bureau and Namasia District Office jointly promote the “Camping Fun in Namasia” package, offering transportation and accommodation so visitors can experience the beauty of nature deep in the mountains.

Lotus Pond Tour

Aside from admiring the elegant scenery of Lotus Pond, the Tourism Bureau has recently built an international-level cable waterskiing facility. Visitors can experience thrilling waterskiing activities for a full price of NT$800, with a trial discount price of NT$500 (over 35% off) during the trial operation phase. Each session lasts two hours and includes professional guidance. The Tourism Bureau also recommends visiting the nearby Zuoying Old City cultural heritage sites and trying veteran village cuisine.

Mountain Boar Hot Spring Movie Mini-Trip

The movie “Mountain Boar Hot Spring,” set against the backdrop of the Typhoon Morakot disaster, tells the touching story of the revival of the Liouguei and Baolai areas. The Tourism Bureau and several travel agencies offer a NT$999 one-day tour to all the moving spots featured in the film. The main filming location, Baolai Zuiyue Zhai, also offers a mountain forest phytoncide experience making plum products for NT$350 per person.
