The Northern Kaohsiung Hujia Center today organized a parent-child activity for economically assisted indigenous families, featuring ocean-themed fun such as fishing and water activities that brought joy to both parents and children.

In this ocean-themed parent-child trip, a total of 120 families from remote mountainous areas in Kaohsiung’s Taoyuan District, Namasia District, Maolin District, and Shanlin Dacun Village were taken to attractions including Kenting National Park in Pingtung, Liudui Hakka Cultural Park, and Renpeng Marine Water Farm.

The ocean-themed parent-child trip was much looked forward to by families living in remote areas, as the group outing helped enhance parent-child relationships. Particularly since they seldom have opportunities for beach or urban leisure activities, every family made the most of this unique experience.

Wei Zongyin, director of the Northern Kaohsiung Hujia Center, stated that families in mountainous areas, due to having more children as well as economic and transportation constraints, rarely get to travel. As a result, Hujia organizes an annual parent-child trip for assisted families from Kaohsiung’s three indigenous regions.

Social workers mentioned that assisted families in indigenous regions have the chance to experience different lifestyles, learn about other cultures, and through parent-child trips, bond and learn through play. 1030622
