Yaohe Plateau Site

The Yaohe Plateau Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Pengyang Yaohe Plateau Shang and Zhou Dynasty site was discovered in April 2017 during a regional systematic archaeological survey conducted by the Ningxia Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute along with eight other institutions in the Honghe River basin of Pengyang. The site is situated on the eastern part of the plateau, occupying approximately one-third of the whole area, spanning an area of over 600,000 square meters. It is bordered to the north by the cliff of the southern bank of the Li'er River, to the south by the cliff edge of the plateau on the northern bank of the Xiaoriver, to the west by a natural north-south gully, and to the east by the edge of the plateau’s terminus, partially overlapping with the Warring States to Qin-Han period Xiaohewan site.

In 2019, the Yaohe Plateau Site was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Protected Area: To the east, the site extends to Yaohe Plateau Maotou South and Xiahewan in Yaohecun; to the south, to Xiaoriver and Zhangjiahao; to the west, to Yanwotai; and to the north, to Yingshanwa in Mawacun, with a 50-meter buffer zone on all sides.
