Huangshi Famous Tea
Huangshi Stream Famous Tea is produced in Huangshi Village, Lingyang Town, Qingyang County, located on the mountainside of Jiuhua Mountain, a renowned Buddhist sacred site. The area features deep, fertile soil, a mild climate, abundant rainfall, and a long frost-free period (210–240 days). In addition, the region is often shrouded in fog during spring and summer, and receives ample rainfall in autumn, providing ideal natural conditions for tea cultivation. The tea produced here is celebrated for its outstanding color, aroma, taste, and appearance. In 1915, it was awarded the Gold Medal at the Panama International Exposition of Food Products.
Since 1958, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has placed an annual order for 500 kilograms of this tea to serve as “gift tea” for entertaining foreign guests. Since then, Huangshi Famous Tea has been exported to international markets including Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Major cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hefei all have designated distribution points for fixed-quantity sales. Starting in 1990, the Administrative Office of the State Council has ordered 25 kilograms annually for use during important conferences.
In recent years, new premium tea varieties have been developed, including “Dao Seng Tian Yun,” “Tiantai Yun Rui,” “Tiantai Cui Jian,” and “Huangshi Qi Qiang.” In 1993, these teas won another gold medal at the Changde National Spark Program Achievements Exhibition and Trade Fair. (Qingyang)
