Songyang Camellia Oil
Zhejiang is one of the provinces in China with a relatively large area of oil-tea camellia cultivation, currently having 2.45 million mu of planted oil-tea camellia, ranking fourth in the country.
Songyang County is well known as China’s “Hometown of Oil-Tea Camellia,” with an oil-tea camellia forest area covering 117,000 mu.
For a long time, oil-tea camellia has been a traditional agricultural product in Songyang County and also one of the main sources of income for some mountain farmers. As early as several hundred years ago, villagers often pressed camellia oil and carried it on shoulder poles, traveling over mountains and ridges to trade for other goods in other regions. The famous “Camellia Oil Ancient Path” of Songyang is the best historical testament to this.
