The Datong Ming Great Wall Ruins

The Datong Ming Great Wall Ruins is a cultural tourism attraction and a World Cultural Heritage site.

Recently, the Datong Ming Great Wall Ruins have been included in the National Great Wall Conservation Plan. The National Cultural Heritage Administration has approved the emergency reinforcement project, and preliminary design and planning work is currently underway.

It is reported that the Datong Ming Great Wall Ruins, stretching from the border between Datong and Huzhu in the east to the border between Datong and Huangzhong in the west, are the world’s highest-altitude Ming Great Wall ruins. Experts have praised it as Qinghai’s “Badaling.” In 2007, the Datong Ming Great Wall was included in China’s Great Wall Survey Project, and it has now been added to the National Great Wall Conservation Plan. To fully preserve this precious historical heritage and enrich the historical and cultural tourism offerings around Xining, our county recently invited experts from Lanzhou University and the Dunhuang Art Research Institute to conduct another comprehensive survey of the Ming Great Wall ruins. A detailed "Datong County Ming Great Wall Conservation Plan" has been formulated, aiming to establish a Ming Great Wall Ruins Park and ultimately achieve a win-win goal of both protection and development.
