Japan’s biggest winter event is the Sapporo Snow Festival in Hokkaido. The promotional poster for the 66th Sapporo Snow Festival has been unveiled, and the star is still the adorable little snowman. The festival will be held from February 5 to 11, 2015. The main venue of the Sapporo Snow Festival is Odori Park, along with the Tsudome and Susukino venues.
The Sapporo Snow Festival began in 1950, when local middle and high school students created six snow sculptures in Odori Park. Today, the festival features around 250 ice sculptures of various sizes. The Odori Park venue mainly showcases large ice sculptures, while the Susukino venue displays delicate, crystal-clear ice art. In addition to viewing the stunning ice sculptures, visitors can also head to the Tsudome community sports center venue to enjoy snow play activities.
