Japan hosts a variety of festivals all year round, but when summer arrives, it’s time for the fireworks festivals. This time, Fever Travel has selected three must-visit Japanese summer festivals for you. How many have you been to?

The Sumida River Fireworks Festival is hailed as the most prestigious summer fireworks display in Tokyo, ranking alongside the Tokyo Bay Fireworks Festival and the Meiji Shrine Outer Garden Fireworks Festival as one of the "Three Great Fireworks Festivals of Tokyo." It attracts over a million visitors each year to admire the spectacular show. Held on the last Saturday of July every year, the event takes place along both banks of the Sumida River in the Asakusa and Honjo districts. This year, the main viewing areas will be between Sakurabashi and Kiyosubashi, and between Komagata Bridge and Kumata Bridge along the Sumida River.

2. Osaka Tenjin Festival
The Osaka Tenjin Festival is one of Japan’s Three Great Festivals and the world’s largest water-based festival. It spans two days: the “Yoiyama” on July 24 and the “Honzono” on July 25, with the latter featuring the “Land Procession,” “Boat Procession,” and a fireworks display.

3.Summer Festival
Besides the famous winter snow festivals, Hokkaido also hosts another major event in the summer — the Sapporo Summer Festival. The Sapporo Summer Festival features a variety of sub-events, such as the "Sapporo Odori Beer Garden," "Hokkaido Bon Dance," "Sapporo Flea Market," and "Fireworks Display." Among them, the Odori Beer Festival is the most popular, lasting nearly a month from afternoon until evening, and the entire venue becomes incredibly lively at night.
