Bashiya Cliff Site

Located in Bashiya Village, Gou Township, Datong Hui and Tu Autonomous County, Xining City. The site covers an area of approximately 200×150 meters, with a cultural deposit thickness of 40-120 centimeters. The site is situated in the eastern part of the village, with most of it buried beneath the village. Pottery shards, stone tools, animal bones, and other artifacts are mixed into the village walls and ground surfaces. Some courtyards still retain their original appearance, but most have been cleared away during the construction of houses. A 2-3 meter-high cliff has formed on the northern side of the site near the hillside, where ash layers, remnants of tombs, and human bones are exposed. Many tombs as well as intact pottery and stone tools were discovered during the construction of houses. During surveys, over ten pieces of pottery, one stone chisel, and one stone axe were collected. Based on the pottery, this site is identified as belonging to the Shangsun type of the Kayue culture. The site is a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit.
