Kaoxiao Tu, located 10 kilometers south of National Highway 109, is a marvelous natural attraction bestowed upon humanity. A 15-meter-long and 30-meter-wide icefall cascades down, and in the peak of summer, under the scorching sun, the center turns into a silvery chain with crystal-clear water droplets, while the icefalls on both sides still hang from the cliffs.

The Kaoxiao Tu natural landscape boasts a typical highland environment, featuring a Qinghai spruce forest area and picturesque glacier waterfalls. The scenic area sits at an altitude of 3,600 to 4,200 meters. The mountains are covered with ancient cypresses, endless stretches of pasture, clusters of wildflowers, and snow-capped peaks, with drifting clouds lingering endlessly. Down the mountain, a small stream babbles; following the stream upward, you’ll find its source nestled between cliffs where a glistening glacier lies embedded. In summer, a waterfall plunges down from between the glacier, sending water droplets flying and creating a thunderous roar that echoes through the valley. Climbing up to the cliff, you can see over a dozen springs gushing forth, meandering through rocky grooves. All of this, together with the surrounding tents and the smoke rising from herders’ homes, forms a uniquely enchanting highland scene.
