The Site of the Maochang Battle is located in Changzheng Village, Maochang Town. It is a county-level cultural relics protection unit and an important modern historical site and representative structure from 1935.

Maochang Town: Located in the southwestern part of Dafang County, on the northern bank of the middle reaches of the Liuchong River. It covers an area of 104 square kilometers and has a population of 28,100, with ethnic minorities such as Yi, Miao, and Buyi accounting for 19.5%. It administers 1 neighborhood committee and 13 village committees. Originally known as Maochang Township, it was divided in 1953 to establish Maochang, Liuzhong, and Dawan townships. In 1958, it was merged into Pojiao Commune. From 1961 onward, three communes were re-established. In 1984, it was reorganized into Maochang Town along with Dawan and Liuzhong townships. In 1991, it was consolidated into Maochang Town. The area is rich in coal and sulfur mines. It produces tobacco leaves, chili peppers, and peanuts. There are 19 primary schools.
