Kinmen’s proximity to Xiamen—just 10 kilometers away—along with its distinctive military culture, has made it a popular destination. According to Kinmen County government data, last year saw a record-breaking 1.47 million-plus visitors traveling to Kinmen via the mini three links. To coincide with the “Kinmen-Xiamen Mini Three Links Night Ferry” trial service launching on June 17, 2012, Kinmen County government launched a special “Night Ferry Welcome Gift” promotion for mainland tourists traveling to Kinmen from June 17 to 26. The package includes a free one-day sightseeing bus pass, tourism brochures, and promotional discount coupons to attract more mainland visitors.

Following Kaohsiung’s three-in-one welcome gift for Hong Kong and Macau tourists, during the night ferry promotion period, mainland tourists arriving in Kinmen via the evening (7:00 PM) mini three links ferry from Dongdu Wharf in mainland China can collect tourist brochures, a one-day sightseeing bus pass, and promotional discount coupons at the Kinmen Shuitou Ferry Terminal’s tourist service center counter. The one-day sightseeing bus pass is limited to independent travelers.

During the event, special promotions on Kinmen’s famous local products were also organized. Tourists using the promotional discount coupons at designated shops can enjoy benefits such as gifts when reaching spending thresholds. Participating shops include Kinmen Heli Steel Knives, Liangjin Beef Jerky, Hong Shifu Golden Cuisine Beef Jerky, Dr. Wang One Root, Wuji One Root, Chunxin Specialty Store, Chen Jinfu Premium Brown Sugar, Shengzu Food, Kinmen Dafang (Hu Busi Noodles), and Shanggucuo Noodle Shop Yuyi Branch.
