Ruins of Langdai City

The ruins of Langdai City are located in Langdai Town, Liuzhi Special District. Only a section of the city wall remains on the southwest side, approximately 150 meters long, shaped like a walking cane, standing 3.5 to 4 meters high and 3.7 meters wide (thick). At the northeast corner, the wall stands 1 to 3.6 meters high and stretches 120 meters. All sections are constructed from finely chiseled stone slabs bonded together with lime mortar.

This city was completed in the 24th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1759), making it 236 years old to date. The original city wall had a perimeter of 2,098.8 meters and stood 4.29 meters high. It featured four gate towers: the east gate named “近日” (Recent Sun); the west gate called “迎爽” (Welcome Breeze); the south gate known as “来薰” (Coming Fragrance); and the north gate titled “承恩” (Receiving Grace). There was also one artillery battery. The city was roughly rectangular in shape, higher in the northwest, indented in the middle, and lower in the south and southwest. Rivers flowed on both the east and west sides, while the surrounding area consisted of flat farmland, making it easy to defend but difficult to attack.

Langdai Town: The newly established Langdai Town administers the former Langdai Town and Saxi Yi, Buyi and Miao Ethnic Township, with the town government stationed in Houying Village.

The former Shuihuang Highway runs through the area, and nearby roads such as Qingxin have been upgraded, earning Langdai Town the title of “transportation hub” in the southern part of Liuzhi Special District.
