When you step into the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, your gaze is immediately drawn to the towering structure — it’s the brand-new Pier-2 Tower at the art zone. Climb to the top of this five-story building, and in an instant, the stunning sights of Kaohsiung unfold before your eyes.

Pier-2 Toweris Kaohsiung’s first public building constructed using shipping containers. Stacked layers of containers in various colors form this scenic observation tower, creating the highest vantage point in Pier-2. A high-powered telescope is installed at the top of the building, allowing you to see everything from ships passing through the harbor, the shimmering waves of the distant Love River, the sunset over Kaohsiung, the deep blue of Qijin Sea, and even the starry night sky. When you stand atop Pier-2 Tower and peer through the telescope, it’s as if all of this is happening right before your eyes — truly breathtaking.

The first floor is designed as a waiting area for ferries, where visitors can take boats to the British Consulate and the Hongmaogang Cultural Park, experiencing the scenery of Kaohsiung in a unique way. Part of the power supply in the waiting area comes from solar panels, making it quite eco-friendly.
