The region enjoys a strategically advantageous location and abundant tourism resources. Backed by the Golden Dragon Mountain and facing the Mekong River, it boasts profound Southeast Asian cultural heritage and a long history. Visitors can enjoy the view of “Three Countries in One Glimpse” or cruise the “Three Countries Along One River,” as well as explore some of the famous attractions in Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar. It is reported that the special zone is adjacent to the Kunming–Bangkok Expressway, which leads to Mohan Port in China. By air, the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone is just a one-hour drive from Phongsali Airport in Bokeo Province, Laos, a one-hour drive from Chiang Rai Airport in Thailand, and about a four-hour drive from Chiang Mai Airport. In addition, an international airport is currently under construction in the special zone and will soon enable international flights.
