Victor Hugo once said, “I’ve been in this city for 10 days… and I can’t help myself.” What kind of feeling is that? And the moment I set foot on this pure land of Zhangjiajie, I instantly understood this overwhelming sense of being unable to tear myself away. So I wrote this guide—to commemorate my lost heart, and also to help all of you who are about to come here!
First, let me lay out my travel route. My trip wasn’t just about visiting famous sights, so my itinerary was rather spontaneous—what I cared about were the views and the feelings they brought.
Day 1: Arrive in Zhangjiajie – Tianmen Mountain – Chef Hu’s Three Dishes Stew
Day 2: Huangshizhai – Golden Whip Stream – Bailong Elevator – Avatar Hallelujah Mountain – The First Bridge Under Heaven
Day 3: Tianzi Mountain – He Long Park – Fairy Maiden Scattering Flowers – Tianzi Pavilion – Ten-Mile Gallery – The Herbalist Elder –
Three Sisters Peak – Return to Zhangjiajie
Day One:
With an extremely hopeful heart, I arrived in Zhangjiajie. With the goal of relaxing, I didn’t pack my schedule too full. After looking through a bunch of guides, I picked some scenic spots I liked and embarked on this unforgettable, heart-stealing journey.
