In recent years, Liuzhi Special District has focused on comprehensively advancing supply-side structural reform in tourism. Leveraging the strengths of mountainous specialty tourism and modern specialty agriculture, it has vigorously developed the tourism sector. With Liuzhi City at its core, and centered around resources such as the rBrA River, the Central Guizhou Peninsula, and the headwaters of Huangguoshu Waterfall, the district has driven project development to establish three 3A-level scenic areas: the Niujiao Buyi Cultural Experience Zone, the Huilongxi Hot Spring Resort, and the rBrA River Lakeside Tourism Resort. Among these, the Huilongxi Hot Spring Resort and the rBrA River Lakeside Tourism Resort are currently undergoing the process of being upgraded to national 4A-level scenic areas (having passed landscape evaluations), with the Huilongxi Hot Spring Resort also serving as a provincial pilot site for tourism resort development. Together with the rBrA River Lakeside Tourism Resort and the Langdai Ancient Town Ecological Cultural Tourism Area, these sites have been included in Guizhou Province’s list of 100 key tourist attractions. The rBrA River has been approved as a national wetland park, and the Waterfall Source Scenic Area has been designated a national forest park. The district has also earned honors such as “China’s Most Beautiful Leisure and Vacation Tourism Destination,” “Top Ten National Cultural and Ecological Scenic Spots,” and “Top Ten Eco-Tourism Cities in China.”
Liuzhi Special District has a long history of rapeseed cultivation. As early as the initial stages of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, there are records of mustard-type rapeseed planting. With the advancement of the times and technology, old varieties have been continuously improved, and new ones introduced, leading to increasing yields year by year and more visually appealing rapeseed petals. The beekeeping industry, developed in tandem with the rapeseed flowers, is a traditional, fast-yielding sector that requires no grain, involves minimal investment, yields quick returns, and generates substantial profits. Beyond direct economic benefits, it also provides crucial pollination services for crops, fruit trees, forage grasses, vegetables, and medicinal plants, significantly boosting the yield and quality of agricultural produce such as fruits and vegetables. Beekeeping enjoys widespread grassroots support in Liuzhi, with many local farmers taking up the trade. Liuzhi’s bee products have built an excellent reputation in surrounding regions, and Liuzhi honey has long been a trusted health product beloved by the people.

To accelerate the integrated development of agriculture and tourism, help residents increase income and achieve prosperity, further raise forest coverage rates, and continuously improve the living environment, thereby preserving a pristine land for future generations. Against the backdrop of poverty alleviation and agricultural industrial restructuring, the Party Committee and government of Liuzhi Special District have successively introduced policies and measures to expand the planting of high-quality nectar-producing plants such as rapeseed, and to promote the organic integration of the beekeeping industry with the district’s seasonal flower seas. The district government has approved the establishment of a Chinese honeybee nature reserve and has centrally registered and developed brand trademarks such as “Waterfall Source,” injecting strong momentum into the growth of the beekeeping industry. At the same time, leveraging the “3155 Project,” the “Three Products and One Standard” initiative, and the comprehensive ecological strategy, Liuzhi Special District is maximizing its advantages as a national plateau mountain ecological nectar source. It is striving to build itself into “China’s Golden Nectar Land,” positioning the beekeeping industry as a key sector for improving the ecological environment, winning the battle against poverty, and achieving a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
