Site of the Gouchangying Military Camp

Located about 1 kilometer southwest of Lianqiang Township Government and approximately 75 kilometers from the city.

The Guangxu-era "Puan Direct-Jurisdiction Prefecture Chronicles" record: "Gouchangying is 150 li southwest of the city. An old military camp remains, spanning two li in area, with two small hills inside. The ramparts stand over two zhang high. Though more than half have collapsed, the site remains clearly visible. There are no steles, so it is unknown in which dynasty it was built."

The site is divided into an outer city and an inner camp. The outer city wall is about 3,000 meters in circumference, 2.2 meters wide, and more than half has collapsed. The remaining parts vary in height from 3 to 6 meters. The two corners of the northern wall are relatively well-preserved, standing over 6 meters high, with two lookout holes each about 2 meters above ground level. Of the four gates of the outer city, only the west gate remains today, built with quarried stone. The gate platform is 6 meters high and 10 meters wide. The gate opening is a stone arch, narrower on the outside and wider on the inside. The exterior arch is 2 meters high and 1.8 meters wide, while the interior space is 3 meters high and 2.3 meters wide.

The inner camp wall is about 500 meters in circumference, 2.2 meters wide, and the remaining height is 2 to 3 meters. The camp is situated toward the northern part of the city, where dozens of courtyard foundation remnants can still be seen. Each individual ground area varies, with the largest being about 100 square meters. Most have now been turned into farmland, with a large number of blue-gray tile fragments visible on the surface, along with some remnants of stone mills. The broken tiles are 1.8 cm thick, gray on the outside and dark bluish-gray on the inside, and are of hard texture.

About a hundred meters east and down from the camp city lies a rice paddy covering approximately ten thousand square meters, surrounded by stone walls 2 meters high and 2 meters thick. It is said that this field area was originally a military training ground, and the bottom layer of the farmland is entirely paved with stones. Digging down about 0.5 meters will reveal the paved stones.
