Cuiping Park

Cuiping Mountain is located in the center of the county town and covers an area of 13,000 square meters. During the Ming Dynasty, the mountain was lush with tall pines and cypresses, dense bamboo, blooming peach blossoms, and vibrant greenery all around, earning it the title "Cuiping Soaring in Beauty," one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Yingshan. In the Qing Dynasty, the Cuiping Academy was established on the mountain. Many literati and scholars lived here, engaging in poetry and painting, enjoying music and literature, and teaching students, eventually producing several accomplished scholars including Chen Hong, Chen Huaiyu, and Chen Jijing. From the Ming to the Qing Dynasty, seventeen poems praising the cultural landscape of the mountain were composed by figures such as Fang Sheng, Governor of Sichuan, and magistrates Wang Tingji, Zhang Yulin, and Li Rong. Today, cultural institutions such as the Cultural Center, Cultural Relics Management Office, Senior Citizens Activity Center, and Broadcasting and Television Center are also concentrated here. It can be said that from ancient times to the present, Cuiping Mountain has been a place of cultural heritage. In 2001, the County People’s Government decided to develop Cuiping Mountain into a cultural park and to build a tower at its summit as a landmark structure for the county town. The tower faces west and is situated eastward. It is an octagonal nine-tiered structure with a total height of 56 meters. Thirty-six steps lead directly to the tower doorway. Four pavilions stand around the main tower, symbolizing “the union of four counties to form Yingshan” (before the Song Dynasty, Yingshan had four counties—Angu, Suian, Dangqu, and Langchi—which were gradually merged into Yingshan during the Song and Yuan dynasties). The four pavilions are surrounded by carved stone corridors. The tower is named “Wenhua Tower” (Tower of Cultural Brilliance), with the aim of showcasing Yingshan’s profound cultural heritage and long-standing civilization through its internal and external features, thereby highlighting the prosperity and flourishing of Yingshan’s historical and cultural legacy. From the tower, visitors can gaze over the vast open land and expansive skies, with picturesque landscapes unfolding before their eyes and reflections on the vicissitudes of life arising in their hearts. In addition to the tower, the mountain also hosts two leisure squares and two gateball courts. Along the circular mountain road, osmanthus blossoms emit fragrance, palm trees greet visitors, banyans drip with emerald green, and ginkgo trees stand elegantly. Visitors strolling in this peaceful environment can welcome the morning light and bid farewell to the evening sunset, feeling as though they are immersed in boundless natural beauty.
