Introduction

Fengshan Sanmenhai Tourist Area is recognized by the International Show Caves Association as the world’s only site where you can explore a karst sinkhole by boat. It is a tourist destination in our region that boasts an international caliber, integrating breathtaking natural landscapes, longevous culture, and revolutionary historical heritage.

The Sanmenhai Window Caves are the largest and most spectacular in terms of their landscape. Here, there are seven karst window caves (sinkholes), which are interconnected with several square kilometers of open and underground lakes formed at the exit section of the Poxin underground river. Currently, three of the window caves can be accessed by boat through natural passages, creating a mystical feeling of “mountains within seas and doors atop the waters,” from which the name “Sanmenhai” (Three Gate Seas) originates.
