Celebrating 128 Years of Taiwan Railways: Pingtung and Fongshan Stations Release Limited-Edition Commemorative Ticket Sets (3,000 Available)

June 9th is the birthday of Taiwan Railways, which is now 128 years old. To celebrate the 128th Railway Day, stations across the network have planned a series of events. Among them, Pingtung and Fongshan stations are jointly issuing“Remembering Pingtung and Fongshan”commemorative ticket sets, which went on sale on June 6th. While celebrating, these sets also pay tribute to the old Fongshan Station building that has since been demolished.

The Pingtung Line, as part of the Kaohsiung Railway Underground Project and the Pingtung-TaiChou Plan, has been transformed into a double-track electrified elevated section from Pingtung Station in the north to Chaozhou Station in the south. The section from Linluo to Chaozhou was already elevated and opened to traffic on June 25, 2013. Now, as the new elevated Pingtung Station is about to open, the existing old station will be demolished. Meanwhile, the old Fongshan Station building was completely demolished after the last train departed on June 21, 2014.

Pingtung and Fongshan stations hold nostalgic memories for many people. To preserve these memories, commemorative retro ticket sets have been issued for the public to collect. A total of 3,000 sets are available, each priced at NT$100. Pingtung Station is selling 2,000 sets (ticket numbers 0001 to 2000), and Fongshan Station is selling 1,000 sets (ticket numbers 2001 to 3000). Each person is limited to purchasing 5 sets, and availability is limited—once sold out, they’re gone. Two types of commemorative stamps will also be available at the stations for purchasers to stamp their tickets.
